After the General Assembly, the elected members of the Board of Directors took up key positions to ensure the smooth running of the Foundation. Frantz Cartright was appointed president and Marie Lissa Roy-Guérin retains the position of secretary-treasurer. An honorary member position was also created to honour the contribution of Roger Bélizaire, a founding member who is stepping down from his position on the Council.

Strategic planning was launched at this first meeting in order to rethink the mission, vision and values of the Foundation that have been in place since the year of its creation in 2011.

The school canteen is asking for more and more funds to maintain hot meals three times a week for the 339 students enrolled at École Moderne. The budget had to be revised to continue this program, which brings real relief to families who have suffered from the passage of Cyclone Melissa. The insecurity and the high cost of living have impacted, in a negative way, how we approach the realization of our projects and our assistance to the school.

The school year began on October 1 with the Mass of the Holy Spirit at the parish of Saint-Jean-Baptiste in Ridoré. The 339 students enrolled and quickly integrated into their new class. In addition to meals, the Foundation was also able to offer scholarships to 26 students, offering textbooks and uniforms in addition to paying tuition fees. On December 8, the school celebrated its 22nd anniversary, the last 13 of which took place in partnership with the SLG64 Louis-Philippe Guérin Foundation. Videos on the Facebook page show this celebration at the church followed by a party at the school.

The Annual General Meeting was held on December 28, 2025 via ZOOM. The members present adopted the action plan, which once again focuses on the school canteen, which is essential to the success of students. Supporting the advancement of education remains a priority, not only for each student, but also for their shared contribution to the advancement of the country.

Leslie Roy was elected as a member of the Board of Directors. Board members are elected and confirmed at the first meeting.

In March, the students of École Moderne participated in the World Social Forum to promote peace in the world. The activities took place in the schoolyard, which was well decorated for the occasion. Each class expressed itself through poems, songs, advocacy and plays. The school year ended on a high note: all 34 students enrolled in the Grade 9 AF school certificate passed. Angelica Noël even obtained the best score in the entire municipality. Ten of the eleven students graduated in philosophy and their degrees were celebrated at the school in the presence of their parents. Bravo for having once again demonstrated the excellence of the education offered by the Modern School. Congratulations to the students, their parents, teachers and administrators on this great achievement!

For the first time, École Moderne will present students to the baccalaureate exams. The graduates enrolled in the New Secondary IV insisted, after obtaining their 9th-grade certificate, to complete their studies at the same school. This cohort makes the school proud by also getting involved in the cultural life of the community. The recipient of the university scholarship is also graduating this year. He will obtain his degree in accounting. He is doing a paid internship at a local company and has a good chance of securing a full-time job there.

The year ended with a big party at the Saint Jean-Baptiste Parish of Ridoré. École Moderne celebrated its Patron Saint the Immaculate Conception and also the 21 years of existence of this community institution. The number of students has increased from 64 to 339 since its partnership with the SLG64 Louis-Philippe Guérin Foundation. There is no doubt that the school canteen and scholarships have contributed to the success recorded each year in the certificate exams.

November 2024

Three fundraising campaigns have been launched. A first metal classroom door, made on site, now protects students and teaching materials from the elements. Six more doors are needed.

June 2024

The Foundation's Canadian dollar account was transferred to Caisse Desjardins Entreprises to reduce financial costs. The account and investment in US dollars remained at the Royal Bank of Canada.

March 2024

The dream of having a refectory has taken shape, at least on paper, thanks to the talent of Rudolph Dupuy, member of the Council and his fellow architects. By combining the different needs, an Academic Resource Center is proposed. To build it, it is necessary to attract more donations. The creation of a 501-C3 Foundation in the United States would encourage individuals and businesses to contribute by issuing official receipts valid in the USA. Steps are being taken in this direction.

December 2023

The Foundation held its General Assembly on December 16, 2023. The Annual Report reported on the achievements of both the École Moderne and the recipient of the University scholarship. The Foundation welcomed new regular members with voting rights at meetings. Forms are available on Zeffy and you can access them in the Donate section! However, the $10 membership fee does not entitle you to a tax receipt but rather contributes to the administration costs.

November 2023

An exceptional fundraising campaign, Educate, one bite at a time, made it possible to maintain the school canteen for 240 students in the Valley while contributing to the Christmas baskets distributed by charities in Orléans and Gatineau, two cities in the Outaouais region of Canada.

March 2023

The Foundation sent 15 used computers and mice to enable New Secondary students to take computer courses prescribed by the Ministry of Education. Thank you to NAV CANADA for this generous donation that opens up so many opportunities for students in a digitally-driven world.
